How Heavy Equipment Transport Works
Compare Rates & Book A Company Your Liked
To have your heavy equipment shipped, we advise you to request the quote some time in advance. Carrier companies specializing in such shipments usually have their routes scheduled a few weeks in advance so you will need some time to negotiate the details and provide the shipping agent with all the details like the addresses, equipment peculiarities, and dimensions.
How far in advance is it better to book the shipment?
The perfect time to book the transportation is a month ahead of the available shipping dates. But you can request and start planning the shipment as soon as you know the addresses for pick up and drop off and the vehicle you will ship (in case you are planning to buy it).
Does the shipment weight matter when requesting the quote?
The dimensions and the weight of the vehicle matters a lot as it affects the price and type of the trailer that is required for heavy equipment shipping.
Prepare Your Heavy Equipment & Provide It To A Driver
When you know the exact shipping date and have all the driver’s details including his name and phone number, it’s time to get the vehicle ready for shipping. If you are not sure what exactly needs to be done, we advise you to check it with your shipping agent and your carrier and they will advise what needs to be done to safely ship your heavy equipment.
How do you load vehicles with no wheels?
Non-running or inoperable vehicles can be put on the trailer using a forklift or a special crane depending on the vehicle’s size.
Do I need to have my equipment to be disassembled?
It may need to be disassembled, depending on where your equipment is being shipped to. For example, for international shipping, large machines that have a bucket should be disassembled. Also, some states prohibit the shipping of equipment with buckets attached.
Receive Your Equipment Safe & Sound
Of course, you will know the estimated drop-off date in advance but a day before delivery, the driver will call you to negotiate the exact time. When the equipment is loaded off the trailer, we advise you to check all the details of the equipment if it was disassembled to make sure everything was transported and then sign the Condition report. After shipping, you can also leave a review to the shipping company to help other customers make the right choice.
Can you ship the equipment overseas?
Yes, we can ship your vehicle overseas in one of the 4 shipping methods: Roll-On/Roll-Off, Flat Rack, Container Shipping or Lift-On/Lift-Off (used for shipping non-operable vehicles).
How long does it take to ship heavy equipment?
It depends on the size of the vehicle and the route length. For routes under 800 miles, it takes 1-2 days, for 800-2000 miles - 3-5 days and if it’s more than 2000 miles it takes up to 7-8 days to transport the equipment.
